Sunday pancakes + hot chocolate

Here comes the long awaited Sunday. A day in which a lot of rest is needed. A day in which a long bath (accompanied by good music and candles) is needed. A day in which comforting food is needed. Comforting food? Hmm...pancakes fit perfectly into the picture.

The weather had not been kind to us in December and not to mention New Year's day. A typical far-too-windy-for-anyone-to-walk-on-the-street-day accompanied by heavy rain. It was horrendous! I believe a lot of people would have stayed indoor like me. When you had an almost empty fridge and could not go food shopping because you knew the minute you walked out you would have soaked yourself, then what should you cook? If it was any other normal day, I would probably just go for something simple, i.e. bread, porridge or instant noddles. But because New Year represented a fresh start, I wanted to do something fancy so I went searching in the shelf for hidden treasures and look what I found - dried porcini mushrooms! Woohoo ^O^

Oeufs en cocotte (Eggs in pot)

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, mom reminds me all the time. But sometimes, especially on a Sunday, I just want to skip breakfast (that is if I am already awake :P) and go straight to lunch, or brunch in this case. Usually, I do not crave for a bigger portion of food, but I always want something that can fill me up and make me satisfied. Oeufs en cocotte is just perfect. Apron on!

Mini pavlovas

Simple baked cheesecake

I felt like I had almost dumped my blog after months of no new updates. Whilst I did and still do cook, I have sort of lost the motivation to blog (not the first time I know!). Fortunately, the cheesecake that I baked a couple weeks ago was just too scrumptious that almost everyone who tasted it asked me for a copy of the recipe. And so here I am, back to blogging! YIPPEE! In fact, at this very moment I have oxtail braising in red wine on my stove top and pie crust sitting in my fridge before I make some yummy apple pies later. Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy this simple yet so lovely recipe.
